State of Dog Walking Software 2026
Pricing models, feature parity, AI adoption, marketplace exposure, and migration trends across the eight most-shortlisted dog walking and pet sitting software platforms. Free annual report from Dog Walker Central.
Key findings — 2026
Pricing divergence is widening
Six of the eight shortlisted platforms raised prices or restructured plans between 2024 and 2026. Dog Walker Central and Scritches are the only platforms with a permanent free tier; all others cap trials at 14–30 days.
GPS verification is now table-stakes
All eight platforms now offer some form of GPS check-in/check-out. The differentiator has shifted to how GPS data is surfaced — automated visit reports, client-portal proof of service, and route-replay playback.
AI adoption is early but accelerating
Only two platforms (Dog Walker Central and Time To Pet) have publicly launched AI-assisted features as of Q1 2026. Dog Walker Central's AI scores visit report quality and powers a conversational business-intelligence assistant.
Marketplace listings drive inbound clients
Platforms with public provider directories show faster provider growth. Dog Walker Central's /search marketplace is the only built-in directory that surfaces insurance, background-check status, and completed visit counts to pet owners.
Migration is the #1 barrier to switching
Data migration concern is cited more often than pricing as the reason for staying on a suboptimal platform. Dog Walker Central's Switch & Save program addresses this with white-glove CSV import.
